PERPLEXING QUESTIONS

Questions abound in the area of Eschatology, and this is especially true of the Millennium. It seems that there are more questions than answers. Perhaps the crux of the problem resides in the human attempt to establish a chronology of end-time events and to reconcile conflicting concepts. It is obvious that we know in part.

Are the thousand years literal or symbolic?

Is it possible for the thousand years to be an extended and lengthy period without being exactly a thousand years?

What part of the descriptive language is literal and what is symbolic or figurative?

Are concrete events revealed by the use of apocalyptic language?

How is Satan bound, with a literal chain?

Will an angel have a real key in his hand?

What does the binding of Satan actually mean?

Is the binding of Satan in Revelation related to the binding of Satan in the Gospels?

Is the binding of Satan in Revelation related to Jesus’ reference to Satan falling from heaven?

Are the two resurrections symbolic or literal, or is the first resurrection symbolic and the second resurrection literal?

Who will be raised in the first resurrection, only saints from the Tribulation or all saints?

Who will be raised in the second resurrection?

If all saints are raised at the beginning of the Millennium, then is the Judgment Seat of Christ different from the Great White Throne Judgment?

Or should the Judgment Seat of Christ and the Great White Throne Judgment be synonymous?

What about the passages in Scripture that seemingly teach a single and general judgment?

If only saints from the Tribulation are raised at the first resurrection, then how do you explain the passages that indicate that all of the saints will be raised when Christ returns?

If only saints from the Tribulation are raised at the first resurrection, then will the rest of the saints be raised a thousand years after Christ returns to this earth?

If there is a general judgment, then must believers who are raised at the beginning of the Millennium wait a thousand years for their judgment?

If there is no general judgment, then will believers be judged separately at the so-called Judgment Seat of Christ?

Does the Judgment Seat of Christ take place in heaven or on the earth?

Exactly what is the character of the reigning of believers with Christ?

Will believers with heavenly bodies be on the earth for a thousand years and live with occupants on the earth who still have their earthly bodies?

Will babies be born during the Millennium?

Will people die during the Millennium?

Will life expectancy be increased during the Millennium?

Will individuals be saved during the Millennium?

If individuals will be saved during the Millennium, then what about the popular belief that no one will be saved after the Second Coming of Christ?

If all believers are raised at the beginning of the Millennium and judged at the Judgment Seat of Christ, then what about those who are saved during the Millennium?

Is Ch. 20 a continuation of Ch. 19, or is this an improper chronology?

Should Matt. 24:29-31 and I Thess. 4:13-18 be equated with Rev. 19:11-16? Or are they speaking of different events?

Do Chapters 38-39 of Ezekiel relate to Rev. 20?

How is the Millennium related to the Kingdom of God?
