GOD     (Theology)

THE SELF-REVEALING GOD IS THE SOURCE OF TRUTH

To speak of God is to affirm Theism; and, for the believer, Theism only refers to the God of the Bible. He is God and there is no other (Isa. 43:11; 44:6). So variant interpretations of Theism are false. The Christian Faith does not allow diverse considerations or options at the table of discussion, for the declaration of the God of the Bible disallows other claims. It is He who asks: "Is there a God besides Me?" and then answers: "Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one" (Isa. 44:8). Again He asserts His uniqueness: "And there is no other God besides Me, a just God and a Savior; there is none besides Me" (Isa. 45:21; also see: Deut. 4:35; I Sam. 2:2; Hos. 13:4).

Our knowledge of the God of the Bible is found in the Bible. It is in Scripture that God has revealed information about Himself and His deeds, for He is the Self-Revealing God. To know God and to be able to speak accurately about Him, one must be a student of the Scriptures. Knowledge of God comes from a knowledge of the Bible, and with the knowledge of God comes knowledge of the Truth.
